My Cough Tastes Like Blood

What should Christians believe? The true

The Methodist pastor Martin Thielen in the state of Tennessee has been successful, what many dream of priests: He has a long conversation atheist friend made to be closer to the belief (again) a little bit. One day this friend asked him: "'Martin, you've almost convinced me with the Religionskram. So I want to know now. What is the minimum, which I believe has to be able to still be a Christian "

Thielen, the question was so interesting that he immediately wrote a whole book about it (and an article in the Huffington Post "). In it, he shall also constitute what Christians, against all popular heresy, must not believe. For example, they would not believe that ... ... God

cancer and car accidents and other disasters caused
... good Christians never doubt
... must be women priests and the man are not subject
... God is true but for the salvation of souls do not care about saving trees
... bad people "left behind" and fry in hell
... Jews do not get to heaven
... everything should be taken literally in the Bible
... God only heterosexual man loves and no gays
... it is for Christians in order to be biased and self-righteous

On the other hand, there is just but a few things you should believe in the Christians. For Thielen Jesus is central to these principles inevitable: A Christian must believe in Jesus, his life, his teachings, his example, his death and resurrection believe - go below anything.

I find that help Thielen and the other party with this inevitable question about a debate. In view of the sad image that provide the official churches, and in view of the incompatibility of some traditional principles of democracy, human rights or even the peaceful and tolerant coexistence in a modern, open society, Christians must, no matter what denomination, to ask what is really on time - and what is only of traditional anachronistic rubbish from a pastoral and tribal society from 3000-2000 years.
