Did you know that German car number plates are marked with the letter Y cars to the armed forces and with X cars for NATO headquarters?
The letter Y was chosen because at the founding of the Bundeswehr (1955) already abbreviation such as cotton (for Federal Waterways and Shipping Administration) were awarded. For the Vehicles of the NATO headquarters was then in turn left only the X.
